    Great reference ebook
Great and exhaustive reference book, but visually not easy to navigate.

Got this ebooks to help me understand knitting techniques a bit better. I find it useful, but sometimes could be a bit confusing for beginners. It’s a great ebooks to have when you don’t feel like googling every single question you have regarding knitting.

  5. GadgetGirl

This ebooks is like a college text book for knitting. All the pieces, parts and techniques that you need for knitting and then some. It’s not only a how-to book, it’s a why book.

While there is much to learn from this comprehensive update to the original Principals of Knitting, the terminology for stitches is outdated, making the book frustrating to use. For example, increase stitches are described as bar increases, raised increased or rib increases but don’t use current terminology like “make one” or “knit front and back” etc. Essentially this book seems to have it’s own language and terminology for stitch work that doesn’t line up with current U.S. knitting language. It is very thorough but sometimes too broad and lacks practical application.
Bluntly, Patty Lyons Tips and Tricks book is far superior for the practical knitter. Her illustrations and her explanations of technique are practical and stunning.

Strap in! This is a monster tome about knitting *for readers*. More word than image.

Excellent Information Dense Reference for Knitters and Designers

I took a class in knitting sweaters from the top down and this ebooks is just what I need to reinforce what I learned in the class. The book offers four sweater styles: Seamless Yoke, Raglan, Set-in Sleeve and Saddle Shoulder. All four are interesting and the patterns for them are lovely.

knitting is definitely a function of math….if you open the book to peruse contents , you are likely to be confused . the charts are helpful when you get used to reading them

    I Love “Top-Down Sweaters”

This is a very clever solution to knitting a sweater using a variety of yarn, adjusted for your size and tension. I’ve only made one raglan sweater so far and it fits better than anything else I tried. I’m new to knitting clothing. The raglan pattern also adjusts for a lower front neckline and higher back, which many raglan sweater patterns do not. There are variations on each sweater style, too – including pullover or cardigan. Because there are so many options, I wrote out the instructions for the sweater I was knitting. It didn’t take much time and I think it made it much easier to work through all the steps.

The ebooks is intimidating initially, but if you read it carefully, you’ll see it really isn’t that complicated. Before you give up, ask someone else for help. They may be able to show you how simple it really is.
